DSI Limited
A quoting tool for made to measure aluminium doors
DSI Limited, an aluminium door manufacturer in Huddersfield.
The challenge
The problem
Every job was quoted by hand. That meant cross referencing a 36 line price list, working out delivery zones by postcode, adjusting for supply only against installed pricing, and producing a bespoke PDF for either a trade customer or an end user. Each quote took time the sales team did not have.
Small errors were creeping in on the more complex jobs, the ones involving side screens, fan lights, thermal breaks and auto operators. What DSI needed was a system their trade customers could serve themselves on, that the internal team could build end user quotes from using the same engine, and that DSI could keep up to date without calling a developer every time a handle price changed or a zone rate moved.
The build
What we built
A bespoke web calculator covering all 36 door configurations, each with its own visual schematic, priced three ways: supply only, install for trade, and install for end user. Delivery is costed by zone across the UK.
Trade customers log in and produce their own quotes. DSI's own team builds end user quotes off the same pricing engine, saves them against a reusable customer record, and emails a branded PDF straight to the buyer with the sales team copied in. Behind it sits a full admin area, so prices, door types, delivery zones, the trade password and staff accounts are all DSI's to change without touching code.

The result
What changed
Quotes that used to swallow an afternoon now take a couple of minutes, and they come out consistent and on brand every time. The calculator does the cross referencing that used to be done by eye, which is where the errors were coming from on the more complicated specifications.
Trade customers no longer wait on the sales team to price a job. Because the internal end user quotes run off the same engine, trade and end user pricing cannot drift apart.
DSI maintain it themselves. Prices, door types, zone rates and staff accounts all change from the admin area, so the tool grows with the business instead of ossifying around the day we shipped it.
